Potty Training
What is the recommended age to start a boy potty training?
My baby turn a year old on Aug 29th. He’s not quite walking solo yet, almost there though. Maybe a couple more weeks. Anyways, my mom bought him a potty chair for his birthday. I don’t know anything about potty training a boy. (Really don’t know anything about training a girl either.) I just wanted to know if some of you mothers could give me pointers on ages recommended for starting, and tips on how to train. I’m clueless.
We started with my daughter (also Aug 29 :-} ) at about 2, where we would sit her on her potty seat, but she soon fussed and protested and hated seeing the toilet. At about 2.5 she finally came around and would potty with assistance and some pleading from mommy. By 3 she was going on her own.
My son was more curious and actually excited to go potty by the time he was a little more than 2. Now he’s 3 and still he prefers a diaper. We take him potty and he goes, but then afterward he asks for a diaper instead of underwear. It’s bizarre I know.
The best thing is to be patient. If they cry then don’t force it, just try again in a week or month. Some of these parents are on a pride trip about potty training, but really, it has nothing to do with their intelligence.
