One Year Old Child Development

Any ideas on where to take my one year old to meet older kids?
At my daughters one year appointment a week ago the Dr. was surprised at how advanced her speech and overall development was. She suggested we get her to play with some older children like two to three so that she won’t be stunted or regress. My wife is a SAHM but does not drive and public trans is hard. I work all week and most Saturdays. We just have Sundays where we go to church then do things as a family a musume, etc. So where can we go after work or whenever so that she can interact with kids
I think you need to look for a playgroup in your area for kids of 2 years of age, and try to see if you can join.
You can find some on http://craigslist.com
Another idea is to look in the library closest to your home, and ask for their schdeule. They have tons of activities for kids in different age brackets (art, story reading, bi-lingual story-reading), so she can meet other kids like that.
In Church, if you see kids, don’t hesitate to walk over to the parents, introduce yourself and her, and try to build up a relationship so that you can sometimes go out for picnic together.
The simple fact to be with older kids even if it’s just running around in the greass will be tremendous for her.

War Child: A Child Soldier’s Story $4.99 In the mid-1980s, Emmanuel Jal was a seven year old Sudanese boy living in a small village. But after his mother was killed, his father Simon rose to become a powerful commander in the Christian Sudanese Liberation Army, fighting for the freedom of Sudan. Soon, Jal was conscripted into that army, one of 10,000 child soldiers, and fought through two separate civil wars over nearly a decade.Orphaned and adrift, Jal lived through horror: marching through miles of desert toward Ethiopia, past the bones of adults and children who had fallen on the trek; witnessing the deaths of friends and family members; killing soldiers and civilians with a gun he could barely lift; starving to the point of near-cannibalism, and coming to the edge of suicide. Remarkably, Jal survived, and his life began to change when he was adopted by a British aid worker. He slowly began the journey that would lead him to music: recording and releasing his own album, which produced the number one hip-hop single in Kenya, and from there went on to perform with Moby, Bono, Peter Gabriel, and other international music stars. Shocking, inspiring, and finally hopeful, War Child is a memoir by a unique young man determined to tell his story and in so doing bring peace to his homeland. |

Phonological Disorders in a Ndebele Speaking Child $175.25 In an experimental, single case study, I investigate the disordered speech of a (4 1/2) year old Ndebele speaking child through a comparative study. A cognitively normal (41/4) year old Ndebele speaking child, is used as the control of the study. The aim of the investigation is to establish the speech sound system the subject is using and to test whether assessment protocols based on English, such as the Phonological Assessment Of Child Speech (PACS) framework by Grunwell (1985), suit the diagnosis of this subjects speech disorder. The investigation is based on data collected from the subjects and the control through single 40minute assessment sessions (one after the other) using probe tasks in the form of a picture alphabetic chart in Ndebele, designed for this study. Data collected is analysed according to Grunwells (PACS) framework. The PACS analysis established that the speech sound system of the subject of study differed from that of the control as a result of delayed acquisition of certain speech segments; this is evidenced by a reduced inventory of speech sounds when compared to the control.. Many stage models of development have been proposed, used as working concepts and in some cases asserted as nativist theories. Many children will reach some or most of these milestones at different times from the norm. Disparities in Infant and Child Health Status $109.93 It is estimated that about 10.8 million children die each year. Six countries (China, Congo, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, and Pakistan) account for 50 of worldwide deaths in children under age of 5 years (Black RE, et al 2003; 22634). According to Ethiopian Central Statistics Agency, Ethiopian has one of the highest mortality rates in the world among infants and children less than 5 years old (CSA, 2000). The problem that guided this study is that infant and child mortality and morbidity disparities continue to be observed in the areas of improved expansion of the provision of health care services as well as in areas of where poor provision of health care services exist. The key findings of this study points out that factors such as poverty, health care system, diseases, maternal care and family care are the most influential factors that have been responsible observed infant and child under age five years mortality rates disparities between the two regions of Ethiopia in 2005/2006. Factors such as education and access to information seem to be less significant in explaining the observed infant and child mortality rates disparities between the two regions. Child Prodigy $93.99 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A child prodigy is someone who at an early age masters one or more skills at an adult level. One heuristic for classifying prodigies is: a prodigy is a child, typically younger than 15 years old, who is performing at the level of a highly trained adult in a very demanding field of endeavor. The giftedness of child prodigies is determined by the degree of their talent relative to their ages. Examples of particularly extreme child prodigies would include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in music, Judit Polgar in chess, Carl Friedrich Gauss and John von Neumann in mathematics, Pablo Picasso in art, and Saul Kripke in philosophy. There is controversy as to at what age and standard to use in the definition of a prodigy. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
